Spring steel smooth PEI

Spring steel smooth PEI build plates have gained popularity, particularly seen in stock versions of printers like the Prusa i3 MK3S+. These plates feature a base of spring steel, known for its flexibility and ferromagnetic properties, making bed removal and reattachment effortless. The flexible nature of the steel facilitates easy part removal as it can be bent to pop prints off, with the steel returning to its original shape afterward.
While spring steel forms a sturdy foundation, the key to its adhesive prowess lies in the top layer, which consists of a smooth sheet of Polyetherimide (PEI). This material offers exceptional adhesion for various 3D printing filaments without the need for additional adhesive. However, the smooth surface may pose challenges in part removal if prints adhere too strongly, necessitating fine-tuning of the Z offset for optimal first layer results.
Key Features: Flexibility for easy part removal, magnetic for swift bed attachment, excellent adhesion for most materials, produces a shiny finish on print bottoms
Compatible Materials: PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, nylon
Examples: Prusa, Creality, Fulament
Price Range: Rs 2000- 6000
Spring steel textured PEI

On the other hand, spring steel textured PEI build plates also utilize a spring steel base but feature a textured PEI surface instead of a smooth one. This textured surface comprises small hills and valleys, resulting in printed models with corresponding variations on their bottoms. Despite this, textured PEI beds offer advantages such as easier part removal due to reduced print adhesion area, and the bed’s irregularities facilitate prints popping off once the bed cools. Additionally, the varied surface height allows for more flexibility in Z offset adjustment.
