Proposal For Customization of Workbook And Reports

Mycom OSI would like to add customization in reports of resource allocation and add this report’s summary in the dashboard. This document covers the solution for these pain points by making use of workbooks and custom dashboard portlets. 

Requirement  

  1. Resource Grid: – They need to implement Resource chart/grid suiteapp in production environment. Mycom wants to confirm that there is no impact on existing functionality of the account after enabling the Resource allocation grid/Chart and timesheets at task level.  
  1. Utilization Report: – Adding of two reports based on the utilization of time of the resources. First one is planned vs actual utilization report and the second one is the comparison report of the actual utilization of month to month.  The planned utilization time should be pulled from resource allocation details and the actual utilization should be pulled from the actual time tracked by the employee. Filters should be added as date, department, project, employee. 
  1. Dashboards: – After creating these reports add these reports to the dashboard of the project. Add the meaningful portlets to see the summary of the reports. 

Our Solution 

Requirement 1 

Resource Grid: – The Resource allocation chart/ Grid can be added to the production account. It is just a view of the resource allocation details of resources. So, it does not affect the other records. We will install this bundle in the production account, and we will enable the permission to access the resource grid for the project manager role also. Configure the setup for the admin role and in the Project manager role. 

Assumptions 

  • The view of the resource allocation chart/ grid id is based on the resources not at the task level. The view of reports will be shown based on the resources only. 
  • We are not using any custom scripts here. 
  • We will be only leveraging standard out of the box capabilities. 

Risk 

  • We cannot download the resource allocation chart/ grid as the same way of it appearing in the NetSuite account. The standard download will be based on the resource allocation data.  

Requirement 2 

Utilization Report: – We will create workbooks for these reports.  Allocated utilization will be added from the resource allocation chart and the actual time will be added from the time tracked by the resource. Planned vs actual Utilization report will be added with the separate project names and the Actual Utilization (Burn Rate) report will be created as a comparative one based on months. 

Assumptions 

  • The pivot view will be shown in UI only but in download it will show the non – pivoted data 
  • The reports will be monthly basis. Month will be displayed based on the number order. 1 is stands for January and 2 is stands for February etc. 
  • We will be using the duration decimal in our reports. 

Risk 

  • We cannot download the Pivot workbook as the same way of it appearing in the NetSuite account. We can download only the values of the workbook and we need to pivot it separately in excel. 

Requirement 3 

Dashboard: – We can add the portlets to the project dashboard. After creating the different reports, the summary of the reports will be added to the dashboard by using custom analytics portlets. 

Assumptions 

We make use of a standard analytics portlet. 

Risk  

  • We cannot add a pie chart in the dashboard by the standard. Only trend graphs and bar charts can be added to the dashboard. We can only add the standard reports in the form of the pie chart.
