Proposal for Estimate custom inventory count

Proposal Summary 

This proposal is to generate the inventory count record; based on the item receipt, the list of item names and bin data has been auto-populated. 

Requirement  

CGSM have to count the inventory when creating a purchase order to see how many items are there in their warehouse. Sometimes the number of items received from the vendor has a difference from the actual purchase order quantity. So, they have to count before receiving more items in that location.  

In the standard inventory count, we can only set up a count interval in which we can add a certain number of days. It doesn’t trigger the inventory count at the time of purchase order/ Item receipt time.  

When creating a purchase order, the list of the items should be added to the inventory count sheet automatically. The list should be based on the preferred vendor or name or any other criteria. For eg:- If The inventory count criteria is the preferred vendor, then all items that have the same vendor will be listed in the inventory count sheet. It will help to count the inventory easily.  

Adding the bin for each item in the count page takes more time for the client. So, when an item is added to the inventory count page the bin details of the item should also populated to perform the inventory count. It should be auto populated in the count page. 

After created one inventory count, in the next time the process should be automated. For that we have to create a solution to get a copy of the previous items which have been counted, and the same list will be populated the next time on the inventory count page when clicking a button or a field. The client wants to edit this copy next time when adding an inventory count.  

Inventory count done by 8 people in the client’s side. If one item is started the inventory count process others can’t start the inventory count for the same item.  

Solution 

The proposed solution will add a ‘Create Inventory Count’ button to the item receipt records. When users click the ‘Create Inventory Count’ button, an inventory count record is created with the item name and bin value auto-populated. 

In the item receipt record, we will create a custom field and attach the inventory count link to it. 

If the items in the item receipt record are inventory items, we will generate an inventory count for that item. By Clicking button action, it generates inventory count  

In Inventory count the list of items name and bin number will be auto populated. In inventory count, in edit mode the user can edit or change the count quantity 

 Assumptions 

  • Here we are creating inventory count based on the item receipt 
  • If the items in the item receipt record are inventory items, we will generate an inventory count for that item 
  • The value must be mentioned in the item record’s field for the bin number. If the bin number contains a value, it retrieves it and auto-populates the value in the inventory count. 
  • If the Bin number value in an item record is empty, the bin value in the inventory count record is also empty. 

Risks 

There will be a usage issue – certain limits on the number of items that can be added to the inventory count, and bulk number of items have not been recommended in item reciept. 

We will specify the item’s limitations once the development is completed.
