NetSuite UOM
- This Feature is a part of advanced inventory module
- The Multiple Units of Measure feature enables you to define various units used to stock, purchase, and sell inventory items, and track non-monetary accounts.
- On item records, designate a unit to default as a purchase unit, stock unit, or sales unit.
- This need to be setup manually in netsuite
- This can be useful when we record transactions:
- Purchase orders default to show the item in purchase units.
- Sales orders default to show the item in sales units.
- Inventory adjustments default to show the item in stock units.
- Work orders, assembly unbuilds, and assembly builds for assemblies are recorded in base units.
Auto Conversions in Reports & Searches
- NetSuite saved search columns such as quantity and rate can automatically apply conversions to base unit from the respective transaction unit for unified reporting.
-
- Standard Reports can be generated based on the UOM defined for items. For example, sales reports auto show the quantity in sales unit whereas the inventory reports in stock units.
-
- If you change the purchase unit on the item record, NetSuite automatically performs a conversion. It converts the prior standard cost in prior units to the new standard cost in new units at save.
-
- For example, the standard cost field is $1 and the purchase unit is inches. If you change the purchase unit to cm, at save, the standard cost field changes to $1 x conversion units, or $2.54.
