Query
For the two requests listed below, the operational management team is seeking a resolution.
- Our main objective is to compare and analyze the initial budget, future forecasts, and the monthly consumption of the task accomplished. Currently, we can see the project’s allotted time and actual time, but we are unable to receive the budget hours in the same report to assess the remaining plan. The total project budget & the EAC for each task have both been added to the respective fields. Now, the request is,
- Ability to enter a varying number of budget hours by project by month.
- Ability to run a report that compares actual, allocated, and budget hours by month.
- We examine the resource’s weekly allotted hours in the Grid view and change the overbooking/underutilization as appropriate. Two people with the same role setup are seeing different values for the same person from week to week. Conflicts arise with the team reports, and resolving them requires twice as much work.
Solution
1.WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) feature in Netsuite Projects requires the Job Costing module to work. The Job Costing module is designed to help organizations track and manage project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead expenses. It is closely integrated with the WBS feature in Netsuite Projects, which allows project managers to break down complex projects into smaller, more manageable tasks, and assign them to specific team members. The Job Costing module enables project managers to track actual costs and compare them to budgeted costs, monitor project progress, and identify areas where cost savings can be achieved. The WBS feature in Netsuite Projects provides a hierarchical view of the project tasks and their associated costs, allowing project managers to drill down into specific tasks and view the details of each task, including the resources assigned, the estimated and actual costs, and the progress made. Without the Job Costing module, the WBS feature in Netsuite Projects would not be able to track and manage project costs effectively, and project managers would not have the necessary tools to monitor project progress and ensure that projects are completed within budget and on time.
2. The difference in the allotted hours for the same person with the same role setup in the Grid view could be due to several reasons. Here are a few possible explanations: Time frame: The Grid view may be displaying different time frames for the two people, resulting in different allotted hours for the same person. For example, one person may be viewing the current week while the other person is viewing the next week. Role-based permissions: The two people may have different role-based permissions, which affect their ability to view and edit resource allocation. For example, one person may have higher access levels than the other and can see more details in the Grid view. User-specific settings: The two people may have different user-specific settings that affect the display of the Grid view. For example, one person may have customized the view settings to display more or fewer columns than the other.
