To move an issue using automation:
- Add a Clone issue action to your rule and select the project you want to move the issue to.
- Add a Delete issue action to delete the original issue.
Log in to Jira and navigate to the project where the issue you want to move is located.
Click on “Project Settings” (gear icon) in the lower-left corner, then select “Automation.”
Create a New Rule: Click on the “Create rule” button to initiate the process of setting up a new automation rule.
Choose a Trigger: Select a suitable trigger that will initiate the automation rule. For example, you can choose the trigger “Issue transitioned” to move the issue when it reaches a certain status.
Set Conditions (Optional): Define conditions that need to be met for the automation rule to trigger. This could include specific issue types, priorities, or other criteria.
Add Actions: Click on “Add action” and search for “Move issue” or a similar action related to moving issues to another project.
Configure Action: Choose the destination project where you want to move the issue.
Map any necessary fields from the source project to the destination project to ensure data consistency.
Save and Activate:
Give your rule a name for easy reference.
Review your settings to ensure they’re correct, then save the rule.
Activate the rule to make it active and ready to trigger.
Test the Rule: Transition an issue in the source project to the specified status (if you set up a status-based trigger) to test if the rule successfully moves the issue to the designated project.
Monitor and Refine: Keep an eye on the automation rule’s performance and adjust conditions, actions, or triggers as needed.
