Gross Amount and Tax Amount columns do not appear on sales transaction forms for US and Canadian Customers because the two fields are useful for sales wherein item prices are inclusive of tax.
The two fields are available for customers in Europe (those using VAT).
This is still a pending enhancement 165243 – Transactions > Sales > Enter Sales Orders > Gross Amount and Tax Amount columns do not appear on sales transaction forms for the Canadian customers.
In order to counter this enhancement, we propose an alternative solution:
- Create an item as Non-Inventory / Other Charge
- Assign the Required ‘Tax Account’
- Now create Sales Order with US subsidiary
- After the required items are entered, add the recently created item as an extra item- Tax item
- Check on the GL Impact, it can be seen that the right amount is reflected in the Tax Account
This method will not be posted as a journal to the GL (for every Sales Order) as this eliminates the chances of performance issues by deploying an extra NetSuite script.
Points to Note:
- There will be an extra item line in the Sales Order for capturing the Tax.
- The Tax Total will not be displaying Tax amounts, instead, the Tax amounts will be inclusive in Subtotal and Total.
- Attaching the GL impact of other Sales Order where the Tax is entered as Tax Amt- NORMAL Scenario (for Reference)
