Query
Hi,
I’m looking for a way to unissue bad components from work order.
I know that modifying work order issue changes the qty in the work order.
However, work order issues are not editable after accounting period ends.
Is anyone having similar problem?
Current Process of Unissuing Component:
- Inventory Adjustment (put good & bad components back to Inventory)
- Create a new work order
- Issue good components to the work order
- Inventory Transfer (move bad components to Non-conforming Material Inventory)
This process has a lot of problem right now because it puts back all the parts back to Inventory and issue back to newly created work order.
It is creating a lot of unnecessary inventory movements.
Solution
If you find bad components within an assembly, the simplest way to correct this is:
Unbuild the assembly.
For the ‘bad’ parts, set these with an item status of ‘bad’ or ‘quarantine’ – whichever status doesn’t allow the items to commit elsewhere. (Or adjust the bad item out of the system if you don’t use inventory status)
Build the assembly, and choose a different part to consume.
Voila, this can be done at any time, is a separate transaction than the work order issue, and keeps a clean audit trail for your accounting team. Creating inventory adjustments is not the best approach.
