Leveraging Priority-Based Item Commitment in NetSuite

NetSuite offers a Priority-Based Item Commitment functionality that empowers users to prioritize customer orders based on predefined criteria.

The Priority-Based Item Commitment functionality allows users to mark customer records with specific priorities, indicating the importance of filling orders for each customer. Transactions are then processed based on the designated priority of the selected customer, irrespective of transaction dates or expected ship dates.

Configuring Item Commitment Transaction Ordering Preference:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Accounting > Accounting Preferences.
  2. Set the ‘Item Commitment Transaction Ordering’ preference to ‘Order by Order Priority.’
  3. Navigate to Lists > Relationships > Customers.
  4. Click on ‘Edit’ or ‘New’ to access or create a customer record.
  5. In the ‘Default Order Priority‘ field, enter a numerical value to designate the priority for the customer.
  6. Note: Lower numbers indicate higher priority. For instance, priority 1 is higher than priority 2. Decimal numbers, such as 1.5, are also accepted.
  7. The ‘Default Order Priority’ field is available only when the ‘Commitment by Order Priority’ preference is selected.
  8. Click ‘Save’ to confirm the changes made to the customer record.

By adopting the Priority-Based Item Commitment functionality, businesses can fine-tune their order fulfillment processes. The ability to prioritize customers based on predefined criteria enhances efficiency and ensures that critical orders are addressed promptly.
