How to convert PNG/JPEG image to WebP format in Figma editor

WebP offers superior compression, resulting in smaller file sizes for faster webpage loading and reduced bandwidth usage compared to PNG and JPEG. Additionally, WebP supports both lossless and lossy compression, providing flexibility in balancing image quality and file size.

In order to convert PNG/JPEG images to WebP format, perform the following steps.

  • Sign in to your Figma account and open the mockup link given.
  • Disable the developer mode seen on top right hand side.

  • Select the Resources tab in the tooltip at left side of the toolbar.

  • Select the Plugins tab from the resources tab.

  • In plugins, search and find the plugin ‘WebP Exporter’.

  • Select the ‘RUN’ option in the WebP Exporter.
  • A screen asking the frame to be selected will be popped up.
  • Select the frame/image which you need to convert to WebP format.

  • Click on the “Export” button.
  • A file will be downloaded which contains the webp format of the iamge.

You can extract the WebP image of the specified image format.
