What is CORS?
CORS is a security feature implemented by web browsers to prevent unauthorized access to resources on a different origin (domain, protocol, or port). When a web application tries to access resources from a different origin, the browser blocks the request unless the server explicitly allows it by setting appropriate CORS headers.
Why XDomain?
XDomain is a JavaScript library designed to bypass CORS restrictions by using an iframe proxy. It allows cross-origin communication without relying on CORS headers. This makes it particularly useful for scenarios where you have no control over the server’s CORS configuration, such as when interacting with third-party APIs.
Install XDomain : npm install xdomain
In your React or Next.js component where you make cross-origin requests, import XDomain at the top of the file:
import 'xdomain';
Next, you need to configure XDomain to specify which domains you want to allow communication with. You can do this using the XD object provided by XDomain: XD.allow(‘*’);
Now you can make cross-origin requests as usual using tools like fetch or Axios. XDomain will handle the CORS bypass internally:
