Change to SuiteBilling Services with Delta Elements that Have Line Proration Deselected

A change has been made to correct the revenue element start date and revenue element end date set for revenue elements that have the subscription line prorate start date or prorate end date deselected. As of NetSuite 2024.1, SuiteBilling services with delta elements that have line proration deselected will have different revenue element start and end dates.

Currently the start date or end date of the revenue element uses the entire charge period instead of the subscription line period. For example, a six-month subscription with a recurring annual service has dates of 1/1/2024-12/31/2024, rather than 1/1/2024-6/30/2024. This longer range results in inaccurate calculations of revenue amount per month when specific revenue treatments such as arrangement creation are used.

Any changes to such subscriptions that occur after an account is upgraded to NetSuite 2024.1 will use the accurate subscription dates when modification revenue elements are generated.

When Will This Change Occur?

This change will take effect in your account after it is upgraded to NetSuite 2024.1. Upgrades to NetSuite 2024.1 are targeted to occur between February and April 2024. The target date for your account upgrade is listed in the New Release portlet on your NetSuite dashboard.

Recommended Actions

Before your account is upgraded to NetSuite 2024.1, it is recommended that you do testing to validate the impact of the adjusted charge period of revenue elements on your accounting business processes. This testing will show the impact of this change before it affects real data. Based on this testing, you can make any needed adjustments before the upgrade to your account.

For this testing, you can use a Release Preview account or a Sandbox account that has been upgraded to 2024.1. For information about getting a Release Preview account, see the help topic Requesting a Release Preview Account. For information about using sandbox, see the help topics NetSuite Sandbox.
