New Ship Central Capabilities
To leverage Ship Central’s packing, shipping, or both functions, you’ll need to install the SuiteApps in this sequence: first SCM Mobile, then NetSuite Ship Central. Expectedly, the enhanced capabilities for Ship Central should be available by spring 2024.
Here’s what’s in store with NetSuite 2024.1’s enhancements to Ship Central:
- Insurance Addition to Shipments:
- A new system rule, “Add Shipping Insurance,” lets you incorporate carrier insurance for shipments. Within the app, you can input the declared item value and observe any shipping cost adjustments.
- Delivery Confirmation Integration via the App:
- Utilize the new system rule “Set delivery confirmation of shipments” to select a delivery confirmation type for each shipment. Carrier shipping labels will exhibit the confirmation type either as text or an acronym.
- Package Code Visibility for Packaging Selection:
- Within the app, access the carrier’s package code list and alter packaging for single-package shipments. Even for multi-package shipments containing a single-order carton, you can adjust the package code. Any rate adjustments will reflect in the estimated shipping cost.
- Residential Address Shipping:
- Based on the Residential Address setting on order transactions, the app will indicate if the shipment’s destination is a residential address. It may also relay carrier messages concerning additional charges for residential deliveries.
- Ship Manifest Generation via the App:
- Directly from the app’s menu, generate and print shipping manifests provided by the carrier for each processed shipment.
- Rate Shopping on NetSuite UI:
- Within the NetSuite UI, select alternate shipping rates or methods from the list via your NetSuite Ship Engine account. This feature is compatible with the Multiple Shipping Routes functionality, allowing changes for one or more order lines.
- Shipping Preferences per Subsidiary:
- For organizations with multiple subsidiaries, you can create and allocate shipping preference records for each subsidiary and even for distinct locations within the same subsidiary.
- Support for FedEx Ground Collect with Third-Party Billing:
- A new setting on the Shipping Preference page enables “Enable 3rd Party Billing for FedEx Ground Collect,” facilitating direct billing to the recipient for FedEx Ground shipments. The estimated shipping cost will display the “Billed to third party” tag, while shipping labels will feature the “Collect” tag.
- Saturday Delivery Preference:
- Set preferences to include shipping methods or services supporting Saturday delivery and incorporate them into shipping options. Adjustments to shipping costs, if required by carriers for these deliveries, will be automatically handled. Additionally, you can disable Saturday delivery via the app for specific shipments.
- Address Validation Disabling:
- The Address Validation shipping preference offers options to fully validate or bypass address validation on the app. Opting out of full validation allows shipping even if an address isn’t found in the carrier’s directory, although basic validation for country, city, and postal code by the carrier remains enabled.
