Manufacturing Setup and Process

Setup

1. Enable Features 
2. Assembly Item Creation 
3. BOM Creation- Requires enabling Advanced BOM feature. If this feature is not enabled, Legacy Bom can be used. 
4. BOM Revisions creation
5. Manufacturing charge Items 
6. Manufacturing cost template 
7. Work Center 
8. Manufacturing Routing 

 

Process 

WO without WIP 

 

1. Create WO without WIP 
2. Status- Planned, Released, Built 
3. Click on Build button to create Assembly Build 

 

WO with WIP 

WO with WIP and no Manufacturing Routing 

 

1. Status- Planned, Released, In Progress, Built, Closed 
2. Decide whether they need to consume raw materials before starting the process or consume materials upon completing the production. 
3. If they need to consume raw materials before starting the process, click the Issue components button to create WO Issue 
4. If they need to consume raw materials upon completing the production process, it is not required to create WO Issue record. Instead, click WO Completion with Backflush to record the consumption of components. 
5. Once a WO Completion with backflush is created for all components, no other backflush completion records can be created as there is no more components to consume. 
6. Once WO Issue is created for all components, the status of WO changes to In Progress 
7. WO Issue will credit the Asset a/c of raw materials and credit the WIP account 
8. Click on Enter completion button to enter completions for the completed Finished good quantities 
9. The first WO completion record created after WO Issue will post the component cost to the assembly item. 
10. Each WO completion with backflush post the component cost to the assembly item in the same WO Completion record. 
11. Upon entering final WO completion record, the WIP amounts(Component cost) will be credited and posted to the debit of Asset account of the Assembly Item 

 

WO with WIP and Manufacturing Routing 

 

1. Status- Planned, Released, In Progress, Built, Closed 
2. Decide whether they need to consume raw materials before starting the process or consume materials upon completing the production. 
3. If they need to consume raw materials before starting the process, click the Issue components button to create WO Issue 
4. If they need to consume raw materials upon completing the production process, it is not required to create WO Issue record. Instead, click WO Completion with Backflush to record the consumption of components. 
5. Once a WO Completion with backflush is created for all components, no other backflush completion records can be created as there is no more components to consume. 
6. Once WO Issue is created, the status of WO changes to In Progress 
7. WO Issue will credit the Asset a/c of raw materials and credit the WIP account 
8. Click on Enter completion button to enter completions for each operation 
9. Each WO completion record post the expenses mentioned in the mfg cost template to the corresponding expense account and WIP account 
10. WO Completion debits to WIP and credits to Expense account mentioned in the manufacturing charge item record. 
11. Upon entering final WO completion record, all WIP amounts will be credited and posted to the debit of Asset account of the Assembly Item 
12. In the final WO completion record, choose the last operation as starting operation and ending operation to post the amount to the Asset account of Finished goods
