Scenario
Unable to create a Time off request for a specific user Error: “The Time off request for xx/xx/xx to xx/xx/xx time off request [PTO-XXXX] already exists for all or part of this date range”.
One possible issue why this error message occurs is there is a schedule exception created on the users/employee schedule after the Time off request has been Approved and deleted in the system.
Solution
To view the schedule exception users must navigate to Administration > Global Settings > Users > Users > Select User/Employee profile > Schedule > Exceptions to User/Employee work schedule.
This happened due to this Account setting “Automatically create schedule exceptions when a time off request is approved” that was enabled in the account. To check the setting navigate to Administration > Application Settings > Timesheets Settings > Other settings.
To be able to resubmit/create a new Time off request for the user on the same date, user must delete/remove the schedule exception that was created in the system.
To delete the schedule exception:
Temporarily enable this account setting “Allow modification and deletion of schedule exceptions created automatically from an approved time off request” by navigating to Administration > Application Settings > Timesheets Settings > Other settings.
Once turned on, manually delete the schedule exception by navigating to Administration > Global Settings > Users > Users > Select User/Employee profile > Schedule > Exceptions to [User Name] work schedule.
User may now be able to create a new Time off request for the user on the same date.
