Resolve Permission Error “Error 403: ERR_INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS” When Accessing the Checkout Page

Scenario

Shoppers are getting an Error 403: ERR_INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS when navigating to the Checkout Page; hence, they are unable to submit any order online. 

The reason why shoppers are getting that permission error is because the permission level of the Payment Instruments defined on the custom customer center role is set to NONE. 

Once the Payment Instruments is enabled on the account, by default, the permission level of the PI(Payment Instruments) is automatically set to full on standard customer center role. However, this is not the case if user is using a customize version of customer center role. 

Solution

To get around this behavior, the permission level of the Payment Instrument role must be assigned accordingly. 

  1. Navigate to Setup User/Roles Manage Roles 
  2. Note: Log in as an Administrator role
  3. Click Edit link next to the affected Role/s
  4. Go to Permissions Lists subtab 
  5. Add the Payment Instruments and set the appropriate level
  • Level: Set Full
  1. Click Add
  2. Click Save
