Requirements:
Can we add an item table(sublist) similar to that of an opportunity or sales order to the Case form so that we can add multiple items to a case and see the costs of the items etc.?
Solution:
In the Case record, There is no option to add standard item sublist
The another option to add the item sublist in Case record is custom child record sublist.
- We need to create custom record type.
Navigation for custom record : Customization → Lists, Records & Fields → Record Types → New
- Enter the Name for custom record.
- Check the Allow Child Record Editing box.
- If Allow Child Record Editing is checked, then Allow Delete becomes enabled. You can check the Allow Delete box.
2. Create the parent–child relationship between your new custom record type and another record type. Parent–child relationships are created through custom fields.
Add a custom field to your new custom record type
- Set the field Type to List/Record & Select List/Record as Case.
- Check the Record is Parent box.
- Select Parent Sub tab is Items
If you want the custom child record sublist to appear on its own subtab on the parent record, create a subtab with a name (Items)
Navigation : Customization → Forms → Subtabs → New.
3. We can add the necessary fields in custom record type sublist. At the time of creating field, check the Show in list box .
4. After saving the custom record type, The item sublist is created under Items custom subtab. We can add the item in case record.
