Apply Deposit to Multiple Customer’s Invoices

Scenario: we have to apply a customer deposit to multiple customers invoices.

Solution : Create a Journal Entry and then individually apply it to individual Invoices

  1. Create a journal entry.
  • In first line add the customer deposit account name, customer name and the amount needed to be debited from the account. Add amount in debit side
  • In Second line, add customers name and account and their respective invoices amount, in credit side.

  • Save the journal

2. Apply Journal entry to Invoices

  • Navigate to Transactions > Customers > Accept Customer Payments
  • Select one of the customers that made a payment
  • In the Apply tab > Invoices subtab select the Invoice that was paid
  • In the Apply tab > Credits subtab select the Journal Entry
  • Click Save
  • Repeat this process until the full amount of the journal entry is applied to the correct Invoices.
