  1. Purpose of Projects Feature:
    • The Projects feature is designed to help track information about projects for customers.
    • It includes details such as time tracking, contacts, and associated transactions.
  2. Creating Project Records:
    • Navigate to Lists > Customers and select the customer for whom the project is intended.
    • Click on “Project” in the Create New menu to create a new project record.
  3. Importing Projects:
    • Projects can also be imported using CSV import functionality.
  4. Associating Transactions with Projects:
    • Projects can be linked to transactions by selecting the project in the Project field on the transaction form.
    • Alternatively, a new transaction can be created directly from the project record.
  5. Auto-Generated Numbering:
    • The system uses auto-generated numbering, creating a single sequence for all projects.
  6. Tax Code Determination:
    • For projects created prior to NetSuite Version 2015 Release 2:
      • Tax code on the item and shipping address of the project or customer determines the tax code on an invoice.
    • Starting from NetSuite Version 2015 Release 2:
      • If the customer has a default tax code, it is used for the invoice.
      • If no default tax code exists for the customer, the tax code is determined by the tax schedule on the item and the shipping address.
  7. Tax Lookup Variations:
    • The NetSuite tax lookup based on shipping address may vary depending on the country.
  8. Project Management and Advanced Tracking:
    • It’s mentioned that if using the basic Projects feature, Project Management and Advanced Project Tracking are not enabled.
