Best practice to the subsidiary wise inactive item record

Question

We using one item code globally.

For example, item A is allocated to three subsidiaries

But if one of these subsidiaries decides to stop selling this product, what should we do? We cannot inactivate it as it will disconnect from all

And I am not sure if we can/ will system allow to remove the subsidiary from the item as it has previous transactions.

So what is the best practice to handle this situation.

Solution

It is found that if the item has already been used in a transaction using the subsidiary and you try to remove the subsidiary on the item record, then you will most likely encounter the error message: “You cannot remove subsidiary: xx Subsidiary because this record is used on a transaction for subsidiary: xx Subsidiary”.

This is standard behavior. Further, the ability to change/remove the subsidiary is requested for an enhancement which is logged as Enhancement # 268634.

Currently, there are no alternate solutions documented for this but the suggestion is to create a new item with the correct subsidiary and inactivate the old one to prevent the users from using the Item for the wrong subsidiary.
