Big Commerce for WordPress is a free WordPress plugin that lets use Big Commerce for site’s backend commerce functionality and use WordPress to manage frontend content and design. The technique of decoupling a site’s frontend presentation from its backend management is referred to as headless commerce, and the plugin pairs Big Commerce with WordPress with this kind of architecture.
To Install and activate the plugin in your WordPress admin:
- Search for “BigCommerce for WordPress” in the plugins area of your WordPress admin.
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Once activated, there will be a new dashboard item for Big Commerce. Go to Big Commerce › Welcome, or click Get Started in the activation success message.
- If you already have an existing Big Commerce account, click Connect My Account. If not, start a free trial by clicking Create New Account.
- Once connected, you’ll set up a new Channel Name, which will be used to identify this specific WordPress instance in Big Commerce when checking orders or listing products.
- After you’ve created your new channel name and started the initial product sync, you can begin configuring your plugin settings.
