Budget v/s Actual report for balance sheet accounts

Since the standard Budget vs Actuals report gives the income accounts, we cannot customize this standard report for assets, liabilities and equity accounts since they lack balance forward in this standard report where the layout used is income statement layout. Therefore, we use balance sheet to customize this report.

Goto Reports > financial > Balance sheet > customize

In edit columns,

  • Add amount from budget
  • Add formula, Variance $ > Amount – Budget
  • Add formula, Variance % > (Amount / Budget) * 100

If you have budget setup in your account then, budget column will have values in it
