Clarification on saved search to fetch purchase order details

Requirement:

Create a saved search to fetch the following purchase order details:

Vendor#, Vendor, Purchase Contract, Employee, Supervisor Approval, Vendor Message

Item line fields: Department, Class, Location

Solution:

To expose the Employee Name on your Transaction Saved Search, on the Results tab, add the joining fields Requestor Fields… > Name.

This is also documented on SuiteAnswers Article ID: 72805.

Upon further checking, the Requestor Fields… > Name only works on a Purchase Order Saved Search. And there is no other Employee field available in the joining field Applying Transactions Fields..

The ability to pull up the Employee’s name of a Purchase Order in a different Transaction Saved Search is still a system limitation that has a related enhancement request logged under Enhancement 125071 Saved Search: Support multiple levels of Join or Sub-queries.

Also found another related Enhancement 335484 Transaction Saved Search > Ability to pull up Employee record information from Sales/Purchases transactions using “Employee Fields…” filter/column.

At this time, there is no documented workaround. However, you may create a Purchase Order Saved Search instead to be able to pull up the Employee name.

‘Supervisor Approval’ may not be available in the Results. We can make use of the status of the purchase order.

For fetching item line fields -> Display main line and item lines in the search result by setting Main Line value is ‘Either’ on criteria or not selecting Main Line in criteria of the search.

Body-level Department, Class, and Location field values will be displayed in main line (*) in the search, and item line fields will be displayed in corresponding item lines.
