Types of Clustered Items
Item Groups
An Item Group is a collection of items that are often sold together but can also be purchased separately.
For example, a clothing retailer may create an item group for a specific outfit, displaying different sizes and colors as options. When an item group is sold, the quantities of the individual items are adjusted accordingly. (Refer to SuiteAnswers ID: 28193 for more information.)
Kits
Kits are pre-defined sets of items that are assembled or sold together.
For example, a computer manufacturer may create a kit consisting of a CPU, motherboard, RAM, and hard drive. Kits have their unique item codes, prices, and descriptions, and can maintain separate inventory quantities. When a kit is sold, the inventory levels of its components are automatically adjusted. Assemblies
Assemblies are like kits but are typically used in the manufacturing process. They involve the creation of a finished product by combining different components or sub-assemblies.
For instance, an automobile manufacturer can use assemblies to specify the parts needed to build a car. NetSuite can automatically deduct component inventory quantities when an assembly is built, and the finished assemblies can be stocked for sale or used in other production processes.
