If you use a contract manufacturer to produce goods on your behalf, follow the Contract Manufacturing Processes in Leading Practices. Two types of contract manufacturing are supported in NetSuite: Tolling and Turnkey.
• Turnkey: The contract manufacturing plant sources all raw materials and charges one fee inclusive of materials and labor.
• Tolling: The contract manufacturer supplies little to no components required to build the end item, and only charges a fee for labor.
? Do you have contract Manufacturing?
? Do you have any consigned inventory?
? What are the value add Items used for Purchase Orders?
? What type of contract manufacturing will you use?
The contract manufacturing plant will source all raw materials on your behalf and charge one fee inclusive of materials and labor. Only a purchase order will drive supply
? Does the Sub-Contractor supply data for any Work Orders?
? What are the value add Non-Inventory Items and Purchase Prices used for Purchase Orders?
The contract manufacturer will supply little to no components required to build the end item and will only charge a fee for the labor. It is your responsibility to plan for and either stock or transfer the components needed for assembly process. Inventory levels of sub-components must be visible
? Does a warehouse need to be set up for consigned inventory?
? How will the information be given from the supplier when the Item has been assembled? Does this need to be automated with a script? If yes, discuss requirements.
The Sub-contractor would require a license and would complete Work Orders in NetSuite as they are completed. This is leading practice for Contract Manufacturing in NetSuite.
? Will more access in other areas be required?
? Can this process be done through CSV upload?
For either type of contract manufacturing, (tolling or turnkey) NetSuite will and can produce a PO to the contract manufacturer based on the build of material on the work order.
? Do you use PO’s to accompany your contracted items?
? Do your suppliers currently work off of PO’s?
Automated Contract Manufacturing can be done, but it would require either scripting to bring in the data through CSV integration or third party linking software to upload the data directly into NetSuite.
? Will this be by CSV upload?
? Is linking software required to bring in the data? If yes, discuss requirements.
The standard and custom Contract Manufacturing Reports and KPIs are listed in the Leading Practices document. These reports can be modified to add fields, remove unnecessary reports and rearrange dashboards.
Customer should have reviewed the reports in NetSuite’s UI prior to the session (per the Personalization Session Prep Guide). Discuss any required changes to the form.
