Credit limit warnings in NetSuite

NetSuite offers two ways for vendors to be warned when reaching their credit limit:

1. User Preferences:

  • This approach allows individual users or the entire company to receive warnings.
  • For Individual Users:
  1. Users navigate to Home > Set Preferences.
  2. Under General, check the box for Credit Limit Warnings.
  • For Company-wide warnings:
  1. Go to Setup > Preferences > Company.
  2. Under Financial, locate the Credit Limit Handling field.
  3. Select either Warn Only or Enforce Holds.
  • Warn Only: This will display a warning message when creating transactions that exceed the vendor’s credit limit. The transaction can still be saved.
  • Enforce Holds: This will prevent saving transactions that exceed the vendor’s credit limit.

2. Vendor Bill Form Customization:

  • This method displays the available vendor credit on the vendor bill form itself.
  1. Open a vendor bill.
  2. Click Customize > Form.
  3. Go to the Screen Fields subtab.
  4. Locate Available Vendor Credit and check the box next to Show.
  5. Click Save.

With this customization, if the transaction amount exceeds the available credit, a warning message will be displayed on the vendor bill form.
