Customize the “Budget vs. Actual” report to add the “Description” field

Description: Add an “Item line description” field in the Budget vs. Actual report when it is drilled down to “Income statement Detail report” so that the item line description in the transaction will appear in the report.

Steps:

1. Goto Reports > Banking/Budgeting > Budget vs. Actual
2. Click on the Amount link to drill down to the “Income Statement Detail” report.
3. Customize the “Income Statement Detail” report. Click on the “Edit Columns” option. Search for “Description” in the “Search fields” area, and select Financial> Description. Save the custom report.
4. Customize the Budget vs. Actual report. Click “More Options”. In the “Drill Down Report” field, select the custom report we created earlier (which consist of the “Description” field) and save the custom report.
5. Goto Report > Saved Reports >All saved reports to view the customized reports.
6. Click on the “Customized Budget vs. Actual” report and drill down to the new “customized Income statement detail” report by clicking the Amount link so that the transactions with the “description” field can be viewed.
