As per google news, they are going to stop the Google Universal Analytics services or GUA or GA3 from upcoming July 1st, 2023.
Hence, we need to update our SCA websites as per the google instructions provided in their documentation.
So, we need to implement Google Analytics 4(GA4) in our websites for continuing the Google Analytics.
What we’ve to do about this change
As per google, we can start implementation for the GA4 as soon as we can.
- Those sites that have already Google Analytics can directly implement the GA4 by doing these steps.
To use the GA4 Setup Assistant, you need the Editor Role for the account. Follow the instructions below to create your GA4 property. You can use this wizard regardless of if your website pages have a Google Analytics tag (gtag.js or analytics.js), a Google Ads tag (gtag.js), or a Google Tag Manager container.
- In Google Analytics, click Admin.
- In the Account column, make sure that your desired account is selected. (If you only have one Google Analytics account, it’s already selected.)
- In the Property column, select the Universal Analytics property that currently collects data for your website.
- In the Property column, click GA4 Setup Assistant. It’s the first option in the Property column.
- Click Get started under I want to create a new Google Analytics 4 property.
- In the Create a new Google Analytics 4 property pop-up screen, you’ll have one of the following options, depending on how your site is currently tagged:
Create and continue. Click this button to continue to the Set up a Google tag page (step 7).
Create property. If you see this option, this means that Analytics can reuse your existing Universal Analytics tagging for your GA4 property. Analytics will create a connected site tag between your Universal Analytics and GA4 properties. Select this option and skip to the Next steps with your new GA4 property section.
- On the Set up a Google tag page, select the option that best describes your situation and follow the instructions to finish creating your new GA4 property:
By doing these steps we can set up the GA4 on the website and we can start collecting data from now on with GA4. And we can compare the collected data with the currently implemented GUA.
What will be the Out Come?
We can start collecting data From GA4 before ending the GUA and also, and we can compare the collected data from GUA to GA4.
It’ll result as we can prepare our website with the analysis GA4 and check the working of it in between these months.
Efforts for this Change
As we’ve to update the GA4 it’ll not take more effort as we’re already using GUA on our current website.
We need to implement the GA4 functionality in the website and we can use both GUA and GA4 before ending.
Also, we’ve to update the SuiteCommerce GTM Editor extension which should be at least v1.4.0 for the next updates of GA4.
For this change/Update, we need 22h for implementing GA4 on the website.
