NetSuite – Account Specific Domains for Commerce
New formats for shopping and checkout domains will soon be active in the NetSuite production account. These changes are being introduced in preparation for moving existing NetSuite accounts to new data centers over the next few years.
What can I expect, and what do I need to do?
Oracle NetSuite is making changes to the domains for standard NetSuite commerce shopping and checkout web stores. These domain format changes only apply to the standard NetSuite shopping and checkout domains. Custom domains are not affected.
Oracle NetSuite will enable the new “shop” and “secure” domain formats in your NetSuite account to replace “shopping” and “checkout” domains, respectively. Your web store will automatically use the new domain formats, and Netsuite has implemented a redirect service for any hardcoded links.
Important: You do not need to take any action for this change to the domain formats.
The redirect service ensures that there is no effect on your websites and no effect on customer access to your shopping and checkout domains. The domain format changes will not alter the current functionality of your web store. Netsuite expects no downtime to occur when they enable the new domain formats. These account-specific domains are already available in sandbox and special purpose accounts, such as test drives.
See the following comparison between the current domain formats and account-specific domain formats. For example, if your NetSuite account ID was 123456:
- Your shopping domain could currently look like this: shopping.netsuite.com/?c=123456. In the new domain format, your account-specific domain would look like this: 123456.shop.netsuite.com
- Your checkout domain would currently look like this: checkout.netsuite.com/?c=123456. In the new domain format, your account-specific domain would look like this: 123456.secure.netsuite.com
What is next?
Oracle NetSuite will enable the new “shop” and “secure” account-specific domains in your NetSuite account.
