When we upgrade the client’s NS account from Mid-market to OneWorld, We have to face the items that couldn’t edit and show the error.
Reason & Solution
Before upgrading to Oneworld, each item has a preferred location. After upgrading to Oneworld we setup the subsidiaries and modified the subsidiary hierarchy. At that time, the system assigns all subsidiaries to all the items in the system without any further changes.
In a OneWorld account, setting a Location and/or Preferred Location is not allowed if the item record is for multiple Subsidiaries selected in the Subsidiary field. In this scenario, the system assigns multiple subsidiaries for the items. So when trying to edit those item records, an error message would be shown like “The subsidiary restrictions on this record are incompatible with those defined for location: xxxxx. Subsidiary access on this record must be a subset of those permitted by the location”
This is because there is a preferred location for item records for multiple subsidiaries. NetSuite cannot use that preferred location on all its subsidiaries. So we need to clear the value of the preferred location from the item records. After that, we can update the item.
Note: We can only clear the preferred location/ location field of item records by mass update.
