Export Site Builder Categories

Continuation of Install Commerce Categories Migration Tools

2. Export Site Builder Categories

The Site Category Export tool converts existing Site Builder Categories into a CSV file. Integration with SOAP web services is required to use this tool and you should ensure it is correctly configured prior to use.

How to Export Site Builder Categories

The following process describes how to use the Site Category Export tool to export Site Builder Categories and includes tips for using the tool efficiently

To export Site Builder Categories:

  1. Access the Site Category Export tool by going to Setup > Import/Export > ExportCSV Site Categories.
  2. Determine which Site Builder Categories you want to export.
  3. To export all Site Builder Categories, click Identify SiteCategory Records without entering a Site Builder Category saved search ID. However, be aware of the following:
    • You can export a maximum of 1000 categories at a time. Consider specifying a Site Builder Category saved search for 1000 categories or less.
    • There is a 10 MB file size limit for the CSV output file. Consider specifying a Site Builder Category saved search with a reduced number of categories so the total file size will be less than 10 MB.
    • The export will time out if the response time is exceeded. Consider specifying a Site Builder Category saved search for a reduced number of categories to increase SOAP web services processing and response times.
    • Hidden categories, such as Related Items and Correlated Items, are not included in the export.
  4. You can provide a Site Builder Category saved search ID to specify the categories you want to export. Using this saved search will reduce the dataset and avoid the issues mentioned in Step 3.
  5. Enter your NetSuite password and click Obtain Details for each SiteCategory Record via SuiteTalk to load the Site Builder Category record data.
  6. Generate the CSV export file by choosing one of the following options:
    • Generate CSV Export File for the Commerce Category Import Tool
    • Generate Unfiltered CSV Export File for All Categories on All Websites

Generate CSV Export File for the Commerce Category Import Tool

This option exports a CSV file formatted so it can be imported into the Commerce Category Import tool with little or no modification.

The Select the Website to Export Site Categories From field filters the export file to only include site categories belonging to a specified website.

The following changes are made to the export file:

  • Header row column names for Site Builder Category fields that can be mapped directly to a Commerce Category field can be renamed.
  • Values for the Site Builder Category checkbox fields, Is InactiveIs Online, and Exclude from Sitemap, are remapped from TRUE/FALSE to T/F.
  • The following values for the Site Builder Category field, Site Map Priority, are converted:
    • “_auto” is converted to an empty string.
    • “_XX” is converted to a float.
  • The addtohead Site Builder Category field is converted into three separate Commerce Category fields, addtoheadmetakeywords, and metadescription. The export tool maps the addtohead Site Builder Category field to the addtohead Commerce Category field but does not populate the other two Commerce Category fields.
  • NetSuite internal site categories (those with negative internal IDs) are not exported.
  • The CSV file generated is only intended for category creation using the Commerce Category Import tool

Generate Unfiltered CSV Export File for All Categories on All Websites

This option exports all Site Builder Category data for all websites. Website and catalog select fields do not impact this export file.
