Global Search Bar to Find Records Faster

  • Use Prefixes:  By adding a prefix to the search phrase, you can limit your search to documents of a specific type. This will speed up the search and reduce the number of records returned that aren’t relevant. A search prefix is made up of all or part of a record type’s letters plus a colon.

  • Use a percentage sign (%) before and after a word to find anything that contains that word

Example: looking for an invoice that starts with Inv: 100%

  • Add a plus sign (+) after to include inactive records

Example: Vipesh was terminated, to find his inactive employee record type Emp: Vipesh+

  • An underscore (_) replaces any letter

Example: You can’t remember is a customer’s name is Ron or Rob. Cus: Ro_

  • Quotation marks (“”) for exact text matches.

Example: Looking for orders where you typed “This is Urgent” in a custom field that is marked as available in global search

  • Use OR to search on multiple criteria.

Example: Enter vishnu OR Robert OR Anand to search for records containing any of these three strings in one search.

  • Use double colon (::) to open the search result in a new window.

Example: open fulfillment 210 by typing ful::210

  • Capitalize the first letter of the search prefix to return a single result in edit mode. By default, a single record returned by a global search opens in view mode. You can override this default by capitalizing the first letter of a search prefix. (This prefix has no effect when the Show List When Only One Result preference is enabled.)

Example: to edit the fulfilment from the last example enter Ful:210

  • Go directly to a customer dashboard. Use the dash: prefix with a customer name to open that customer’s dashboard.

Example: Enter dash: Jobin and Jismi in the Search field, then press Enter or click Go to open that company’s customer dashboard.
