What is item grouping in NetSuite via Celigo
Item grouping is the process of categorizing products based on their type—such as inventory, non-inventory, or kit items in NetSuite. Using Celigo’s branching logic in the destination application, you can dynamically route each item to the correct NetSuite record type.
Here I just used a source NetSuite account and another destination NetSuite account where I sent items from source NetSuite to Destination NetSuite and items has been categorized based on their Item Type in Destination
What’s new in 2025
You can now branch directly in the NetSuite destination using item type logic, without needing pre-processing in the source or a separate lookup step. This means:
- you can evaluate item type (for example, “item Type”: “Inventory”) right inside the destination
- you can route to Inventory Item, Non-Inventory Item, or Kit-Item dynamically
- you can maintain a single flow with multiple branches—clean, scalable, and fast
Why it’s useful
- simplified architecture: one flow handles all item types
- reduced maintenance: no need to duplicate flows or add extra lookups
- improved accuracy: items are created in the correct NetSuite record type every time
- scalable logic: easily extend to other item types like assembly or service
For Example, In your Celigo flow, you set up branching in the NetSuite destination like this:
- branch 1: if item Type = Inventory, route to Inventory Item
- branch 2: if item Type = Non-Inventory, route to Non-Inventory Item
- branch 3: if item Type = Kit, route to Kit-Item
Now, each item lands exactly where it belongs, no manual intervention.
Conclusion
Branching in the NetSuite destination is a game-changer for item grouping. Whether you’re managing 10 items or 10,000, this approach keeps your flows lean, your data clean.
