How to configure Putty SSH client (in Linux) with AWS server

  1. Open SSH Client
  2. Add the Public Host Name / IPv4 address of server that need to be connected
  3. Add port number

4. Go to SSH > Auth > Browse the path of ppk file.

5. Again back to Session > add a name in saved session field and save. Select that saved session.

6. A small prompt will appear

OS vs Username

Amazon – ec2-user

Centos – centos

Debian – admin or root

Fedora – ec2-user

RHEL – ec2-user or root

SUSE – ec2-user or root

Ubuntu – ubuntu or root
