How to remove the ‘New’ (gear icon) column in the Saved Search Transaction Portlet?

How to remove the ‘New‘ (gear icon) column in the Saved Search Transaction Portlet without removing the Edit/View column? In my case, this is found in the Customer record (dashboard view), Transactions portlet (Type=Invoice).

From one of the questions here, to remove the Edit/View column, the solution is to set the Search Output Type = Report. This solution removes the ‘New’ column as well.

I’m not sure what controls the ‘New’ column to show because it shows in some custom views but it doesn’t show in some. I can’t see the difference between these custom views. As for the Default view, I noted that the ‘New’ column is not showing.

you try unmarking the Allow Inline Editing Checkbox if it will work for you?
