How to resolve the JavaScript error: ‘job execution time exceeded’ while activating theme or extension

Scenario: After deployment, while activating extension or theme there shows JavaScript error: ‘Job execution time exceeded. The job has been IN_PROGRESS for more than 15 minutes’. Activation fails.

Solution:

1. Navigate to Customization –> List, Records, & Fields –> Record Types.
2. Find the ‘SC ExtMech Activation’ record type from the list.
3. Click on the ‘List’ button of ‘SC ExtMech Activation’ record type.
4. Change the activation state of the record (identify with domain name) to ‘FINISHED’ if the state was already ‘ERROR’.
5. If The state was ‘IN PROGRESS’ change it to ‘ERROR’.
