Investigate why the Discount item in NetSuite post to the Revenue account instead of the Promotional rebates account

Issue

We have a discount item named “Amazon Discount. We were used this item in many transactions and when we check the GL impact of the transaction, we can see that the Discount Item does not affect the posting and is wrongly post to the Revenue account of the main item in the transaction.

Solution

This issue is mainly due to the absence of a posting account in the discount item “Amazon Discount”

Here also, there is no account for the corresponding item

So to affect this item in GL impact, we need to add an item to this item. But when we try to edit the item record, the field displays as “Disabled”

We will face this type of issue while we are trying to change the account of an item which is used in many previous transactions. So we can’t edit this record.

If we need this item to post on to the “Promotional rebates account” , we can create a new Discount Item and can add this posting account while creating. But this will not affect the previous transactions.
