Issue with Missing Bins in Inventory Adjustment

When entering a negative quantity for an item that uses bins in an inventory adjustment, some or all bins may not be visible or selectable in the Inventory Detail section. This issue occurs when there is an on-hand quantity but no available quantity for the item in the Inventory Detail tab of the item record.

Example Scenario:

  • On Hand Quantity: 1
  • Available Quantity: 0

This imbalance occurs due to the following scenarios:

  1. The item has already been committed to an existing Sales Order.
  2. The item has been picked/packed onto an existing Item Fulfillment.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the Inventory Adjustment:
  • Check if the item is committed to an existing Sales Order.
  • Check if the item has been picked/packed onto an existing Item Fulfillment.
  • Navigate to Transactions > Sales > Enter Sales Orders and find any Sales Orders that may have committed the item.
  • Adjust the quantity or status of the Sales Order to free up available inventory.
  • Navigate to Transactions > Sales > Fulfill Orders and find any Item Fulfillments that may have picked/packed the item.
  • Adjust the quantity or status of the Item Fulfillment to free up available inventory.
  • Go back to the item record under Lists > Accounting > Items.
  • Ensure the Available Quantity matches the On Hand Quantity after adjusting commitments.
  • Return to Transactions > Inventory > Inventory Adjustments.
  • Enter the negative quantity for the item.
  • Verify that the bins are now visible and selectable in the Inventory Detail section.

By following these steps, you can ensure that the available quantity reflects the actual on-hand quantity, allowing you to see and select the appropriate bins during inventory adjustments.
