Making fields mandatory without script

Jira Code: OTGN-221

Description: Make certain fields mandatory including standard and custom body fields

Steps to resolve:

We can make the fields mandatory in many ways.

  1. If the field is a custom body field,we can either make it mandatory by editing the particular field .

For that navigate to Customization>Lists,Records & Fields>Transaction Body Fields if the field is a transaction body field. If it is an item record field goto Customization>Lists,Records & Fields>Item fields.Select the field accordingly.

Click edit

Goto the subtab “Validation and defaulting”.

We can check the checkbox “Mandatory”.

Then click on “Apply to forms” and tick the required forms in which you want this field appear to be mandatory.

  • We can customize the corresponding form to make the fields mandatory for that particular form only.

For that click “Customize” option in the top of the  right most side and click “customize form” in the corresponding record itself.

Then in the form click on the “screen fields” subtab and select the corresponding tab below which the field appears.

Then tick the check box “mandatory” corresponding the particular field. Make sure that the “show” checkbox is also checked.

  • If both these solutions are not possible we can use a workflow for making a field mandatory.
