Merge customer record FAQ

Following are the queries about merging customer records which is tested in demo account -:

1 .See the use of enabling DUPLICATE DETECTION & MERGE feature in enable the feature.
Its cause and effect.

What are the related setup and navigation pages to do the merge?

Navigation : Setup > Company > Enable features > Company subtab

This functionality is used to compare customer and contact records and notify you of possible duplicate records and thus can manage duplicate records .

2. once enabled, can it be turned off?

once enabled we can disable the feature if needed.

3. How to do customer merge?

a ) Navigation : Lists > Relationship > Customers

b ) Click Edit next to the name of the customer whose record will serve as the source customer.

c ) From the Actions list, select Merge.

d ) On the Merge Customer page, the source customer record appears in the Duplicate field.

In the Master field, select the target customer into which you want to merge this source customer record.

e ) Click Merge.

f ) To process the merge, click Refresh, or to halt the process, click Cancel.

The Status column shows the results of the process.

g )To verify that the target record contains the data from the source record, click the link to the target record and view it.

On the System Information subtab on the System Notes subtab, the merge appears with the value Duplicate Resolution in the Context column..

4, What will happen if two customers is merged?

When you merge the data from a source customer record into a target customer record, the target customer record receives all source customer information. This information includes all relationships, communication, address, sales, marketing, financial, and other subtab lists data.

During the merge process, NetSuite deletes the source customer record.

5, Will the customer’s historical transaction be merged? how will the related features be shown up?

Yes , merging records also merges the historical transactions of the record.

6. Does the merge happen automatically?

No , merging does not happen automatically .

7. Can the merge be undone?

Once done the merge cannot be undone.

8. Criteria for customers to do the merge?

There is no such criteria , all customers can merge records

9. Will the customer as vendor or contact/ other relationship a blocker for customer merge?

No , we can merge customer as vendor record with customer records. Vendor records will be retained and changes will happen only in customer records .

10. Type of different merge options in NetSuite?

We can merge records between :-

a ) Partners

b) Vendors

c) Customers

d ) Contact

11.Can we merge an inactive customer?

Yes , we can merge inactive customers.

12, What will happen if we enable this feature and not merge?

If the record is a duplicate record, there will be a notice where you can follow a link to manage the duplicate.

13. What will happen if related contact is the for the customer who is going to be merged.?

Yes , the contact also will be merged and the same is discussed in Qn 4,
