Missing Commerce Categories

When implementing SuiteCommerce Advanced as your web store, you might encounter an issue where your commerce categories are missing from your site, or sometimes none of the categories appear at all.

You may try to access the categories directly by adding the URL component to your domain in the address bar, which sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn’t. Even if the Commerce Categories do appear, clicking on any of them may lead to a Page not found error.

Here are ways to check and try to resolve the problem.

  • Try performing a Rebuild Search Index. After the rebuild is complete, check your site to see if the issue has been resolved.
  • 1. Navigate to Commerce > Websites > Website List
  • 2. Click Edit on your website record
  • 3. Hover to Actions and click Rebuild Search Index
  • 4. Click OK

  • If you have multiple websites, make sure that each site has its own Catalog.
  • 1. Navigate to Commerce > Content Management > Commerce Catalogs
  • 2. Make sure to check and create a Catalog for each of your site

  • If an empty category is not showing up in your web store, check whether the Exclude Empty Categories preference is enabled. You can find this setting by navigating to Commerce > Websites > Configuration, selecting your website record and domain, then going to the Integrations tab and the Categories subtab.

  • If you see a Page Not Found error when accessing a category, make sure that Commerce Categories are added on the Sort Fields tab of your website setup record. To do this, navigate to Commerce > Websites > Website List, click Edit on your website record, and go to the Search Index tab.

  • If none of the above solutions work, it is possible that your custom theme or an extension is causing the issue. Try switching to the SuiteCommerce Base Theme to see if the problem persists. If the categories load correctly with the base theme, the issue is likely related to your custom theme or an installed extension.
