To set up our email domain name in NetSuite:
- Go to Commerce > Hosting > Domains.
- In the Domain Name column, enter the domain name we have registered to send campaign email messages.
- In the Hosted As column, select Email Campaign.
- Click Add.
- Repeat these steps for each email domain we want to add.
- Click Save.
Warning: After we create a new domain or update an existing domain, we must wait two hours before we configure DNS settings with our domain provider.
- After two hours, return to the Domain Setup page, and then copy the CNAME (Alias) NetSuite assigned to us We will use this CNAME to complete DNS setup with our domain name provider.
- Go to Commerce > Hosting > Domains.
Note: Each time we add or edit a domain name in NetSuite, the CNAME (Alias) displayed for that domain changes. We must configure DNS settings with our domain provider to point our domain name to the correct CNAME (Alias).
- (Required) Visit our domain provider’s website to complete the CNAME record setup. Select the campaign domain on the Marketing subtab of our email template or campaign template records.
- We can set a default domain for our templates. Go to Setup > Marketing > Set Up Web Site > Default Campaign Domain field.
After we set up domain names in NetSuite, and configure DNS settings with our domain provider, our domains should begin redirecting. The time frame for domain redirecting depends on our DNS provider. Generally, this process takes between two to 48 hours.
In addition to email domains, we can also upload our own email domain keys to increase our delivery rates.
DomainKeys Identified Main
To protect customers from unsolicited email, many ISPs check the domain key used in an email message to determine whether it is spam or not. DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a method of digitally signing our email messages to allow authentication.
When sending email from NetSuite, using our own domain key increases campaign delivery rates and help enhance our reputation as a legitimate marketer. Without DKIM, we cannot send more than 10,000 messages in a single email campaign.
When set up, our domain keys will be used to authenticate all email messages sent from NetSuite.
