In NetSuite, item pricing for a customer is determined based on a hierarchy of pricing options. When multiple pricing rules exist (such as Group Pricing, Item Pricing, and Price Levels), NetSuite uses a specific priority order to determine the final price assigned to a customer.
Here’s the pricing hierarchy NetSuite follows, from highest to lowest priority:
1 Customer-Specific Item Pricing (Item Pricing)
- Set directly on the customer record.
- Most specific: if you’ve defined a price for a specific item for a specific customer, this overrides all other pricing.
- Set under: Customer Record > Sales > Item Pricing sublist
2 Group Pricing
- Applied when the customer is part of a Customer Group and specific prices are set for that group.
- This is more general than customer-specific but more specific than standard price levels.
- Set under: Lists > Relationships > Groups, then assign pricing per item for that group.
3 Price Levels
- These are predefined price levels (like Base Price, Wholesale, etc.) set on the item record.
- A customer can be assigned a default price level, and that will be used unless overridden by the above methods.
- Set on: Item Record > Pricing tab, and Customer Record > Financial tab > Price Level
4 Base Price (Standard Price)
- The default price of an item if none of the above apply.
