Not being able to access pre-defined groups on Workflow

 Issue

Have set up some groups (of employees) and want to send emails to theses groups on a Workflow. However, under the ‘Specific Recipient’ section, I am not seeing any options –

Solution

The “Specific Recipient = Group” portion of the “Send Email” Workflow Action has a few limitations and can be confusing to use.

You can select a Group in the “Specific Recipient” field if:

  1. The Group is Static (Dynamic Groups aren’t supported)
  2. The “Email” field on the Group is populated

The idea is that the Static Group has a “distribution email address”, which is also indicated in the tooltip:

Of course, it would have been best if we could use a Dynamic Group as direct email recipients.
