Production End Date

The calculation of the Production End Date when Forward is selected as the Scheduling Method on the Work Order are as follows:

  • (Work Order Variable Lead Time(Work Order Quantity/Work Order Lead Time Lot Size))+Work Order Fixed Lead Time

Note: (Work Order Quantity/Work Order Lead Time Lot Size) will be rounded up.

This will be taken into consideration when WIP=F and no Manufacturing Routing was selected in the Work Order.

If WIP=T and there’s a selected Manufacturing Routing on the Work Order, then the system will take into consideration the Setup and Run time as indicated in the Manufacturing Routing as well as the Work Calendar. See SuiteAnswers Article: 39103 | Production Scheduling Methods Overview.

Note also that Production Dates serve as “guide only” to production planners and schedulers on the Work Order level. Both Production Start and End dates in the Work Order will be changed by the system based on when the Work Order Completion was created to conform with the actual dates (since it is the ACTUAL and POSTING transaction).

In order for you to manage Production Start and End Dates in the Work Order, you may either:

1. Use Manufacturing Routing and use either “Forward” or “Backward” scheduling method and let the system calculate either the Production Start or End Date depending on the schedule method selected;

2. If you have a desired Production Start Date, make sure that the Transaction Date of the First Work Order Completion record is equal with your desired Production Start Date.

If you have a desired Production End Date (that is different from the Production Start Date), the Transaction Date of the Last Work Order Completion record entered must be equal with your desired Production End Date.

*This will let the system update the estimated Production Start and End dates on the Work Orders to the actuals Production Start and End dates.

3. Do not use Manufacturing Routing on the Work order.
