One of our client has the invoice report, and they need to add another column on this report that is date the SO was entered. As per our analysis, we are unable to add the date of the sales order to the Invoice Report because there is no option to add the date from the corresponding sales order.
Proposed Solutions
We should have to create a custom field on the invoice to store the sales order date or created from sales order, so we can fetch it for the report. Or we should have to create the saved search report as per the existing invoice report for adding the sales order date.
To implement custom field solution, we will create a custom field called ‘Created from SO#’ on the invoice to store the sales order data(standard created from filed value) and then use a workflow to source the data into the field. We will then update the invoice report by adding the sales order date.
If client want to display the sales order date on invoices that were created before this solution was implemented, we should have to set the custom ‘created from SO#’ field value using a CSV update.
