Proposal For Adding credit card charge

Proposal Summary

This proposal covers the development of adding credit card charges.

Requirement

Check the possibility of adding a 3% credit card processing fee to the total amount before proceeding with payment. This fee will only needed to apply when the payment method selected is a credit card.

Deliverables

The default SuiteCommerce Advanced functionalities do not include an option to collect credit card processing fees. To enable this functionality, customization is required.

  • The credit card fee will be added in the summary part of the review page.
  • When the payment is done using the credit card, we will add the credit card charge as an item in the sales order to update the credit card charge in the backend. This item will not be displayed on the website.
  • we will set the 3% of total amount of the sales order as the item amount on the ‘Credit Card Charges’ item line.
  • This item and its associated amount will be tracked and carried through the invoicing process to guarantee accurate accounting. So, the total amount in the sales order will be inclusive of the 3% of the current total.

Scope & Limitation

  • Any changes to the proposed solution will be considered as change request.
  • Currently, we will develop the credit card fee text in the summary box of the review page in the current design of the webstore, if there is any design change then that will be out of scope.

Assumption

  • The ‘Credit Card Charges’ item will be added below all existing items in the sales order.
  • The new item “Credit Card Charges” will only be added if the payment method choose is credit card. Otherwise, it will not be included in the sales order.

Risk

The new markup item “Credit Card Charges” may include in all PDFs and emails related to sales orders, which may affect the appearance of the documents.

Enhancement

Because we are adding this as an item, the order receipts such as email and pdf will include this item in their list. To avoid confusion, we may need to update the email templates and pdf for the same.
