Proposal For Script to populate our Marketing Category field with the category

Proposal Summary

This proposal covers the development of Script to populate our Marketing Category field with the category

Requirement

The Second Source RX-US would like to populate the marketing category field with the category field value. Also, they want to know the items belong to each category.

We essentially have the same issue with the Category.  We don’t have a way to pull them out in a report to validate what product is in what category over time.  Similar to the question above, can you build a script to populate our Marketing Category field with the category that our items are linked to for SCA?”

Our solution

While we checked NetSuite, the marketing category field is having the value of the corresponding category of item. So, we would like to know whether the value in the marketing category field is added manually by the Second Source RX-US?

If the value is added manually then we can create a client script to update the marketing category field value while changing the category of the item. If an item is belonging to the “OTC” category then the marketing category field value will be ‘OTC’ and if the category changes to “PPE” then we can update the marketing category field by using the client script. So manually no need to update the marketing category field.

Second Source RX-US wants to know the items belonging to each category, for that we have 2 methods.

Method 1: In NetSuite, we have a standard method to check the items in each category. Check the items subtab of the commerce category, all the items belonging to that category are listed there. In the item subtab, we can add new items or can remove items.

Goto Commerce  -> Content management  ->  Commerce categories  -> click view for the corresponding category(In the below example taken OTC) -> Items subtab

Method 2: Otherwise, we can create a saved search to list out the items belonging to each category.
