Receive Return Authorization: An unexpected error occurred due to null value on Inventory detail column

Scenario

An unexpected error occurred due to null value on Inventory detail column upon clicking the Receive button in the Return Authorization

Solution

Upon Receiving Return Authorizations created from Orders with an Item that use Bins but the Use Bins checkbox was unmarked on the Item Record after creating the Return Authorization. 

 

This was due to the null value on the Inventory Detail column Bin number field and only the quantity was pre-populated. The source transaction required the Bin to be used on the Item Fulfillment and the Bin was initially associated to the Return Authorization before disabling the Use Bins functionality.

 

To resolve:

  1. Enable “Use Bins” in the Item record.
  2. Edit the Return Authorization.
  3. Remove Item then add back. 
  4. Configure the Inventory Detail.
  5. Receive the Return Authorization.

 

Note: If the customer would like to disable the Use Bins functionality. They may create a negative adjustment first before disabling the Use Bins functionality and then create a positive adjustment to revert the effect of the previous negative adjustment.
