The user receives an unexpected error when adding a Units Type for an Item.
The cause of this error may be because of a missing Units. Units are mandatory fields on an Item Record when the Units Type field is populated. Effective on the NetSuite 2019.2 version, a new Consumption Units field is introduced.
Solution
- Navigate to Lists > Accounting > Item
- Click Edit
- Note: next to the Item
- Click Customize
- Note: On the upper right part of the form
- Click Customize Form
- Click Fields subtab
- Click Main subtab
- Note: Enter checkmark on Show checkbox for the selected fields.
- Units Type
- Base Unit
- Stock Unit
- Purchase Unit
- Sale Unit
- Consumption Unit
10. Click Save
Note: When using a custom form, there are cases that each of the Units field above should be displayed individually. When customizing a standard Inventory Part form, it is enough to display only the Units Type and Base Unit field.
