Resolve Error: Unexpected Error when Saving an Item Record with Unit Type

The user receives an unexpected error when adding a Units Type for an Item.

The cause of this error may be because of a missing Units. Units are mandatory fields on an Item Record when the Units Type field is populated. Effective on the NetSuite 2019.2 version, a new Consumption Units field is introduced.

Solution
  1. Navigate to Lists Accounting Item
  2. Click Edit
  3. Note: next to the Item
  4. Click Customize
  5. Note: On the upper right part of the form
  6. Click Customize Form 
  7. Click Fields subtab
  8. Click Main subtab
  9. Note: Enter checkmark on Show checkbox for the selected fields.
  • Units Type
  • Base Unit
  • Stock Unit
  • Purchase Unit
  • Sale Unit
  • Consumption Unit

10. Click Save

Note: When using a custom form, there are cases that each of the Units field above should be displayed individually. When customizing a standard Inventory Part form, it is enough to display only the Units Type and Base Unit field.
